And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day
The title for the book and the series Band of Brothers comes from a famous speech delivered by Henry V of England before the Battle of Agincourt in William Shakespeare's Henry V; Act IV, Scene 3.
A new 10-part mini-series from the creators of Band of Brothers (Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman), called The Pacific, is in development. The new mini-series will focus on the Pacific Theater of Operations and the United States Marine Corps. The project will hopefully debut in 2009.
UPDATE: Tune in to HBO for the epic mini-series The Pacific now!
AutoCAD 2009 Gold Beta Test Site
Sinclair Pratt Cameron, P.C. was chosen in the summer of 2008 to participate directly with Autodesk and a select group of others as a Gold Beta Test Site for AutoCAD 2009.
It has had it's 'ups' & 'downs' with most of the 'ups' not coming soon enough. I mean, it was an ever-evolving little monster with its fair share of crashes and expletives, but we all learned a lot about the hard work it takes to put something like this together. "Enlightening" would be a huge exaggeration. The number of people they bring together on many different levels to make this happen... And that is for the software that is pretty much at the bottom of the Autodesk food chain.
"One of only 15 Gold Sites in the world." --- Autodesk Beta Team Leader
Upside you say? Plenty. We get VIP passes for our CAD department to Autodesk University for the next 5 years and 50 cases of Junior Mints®.
Get real! I was just kidding about AU & the candy, but we have been actively using AutoCAD 2009 in production for 6 months before anyone else and had direct input/dialog with the developers since the beginning.
Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
Feel free to check out everything that is new on my AutoCAD page. I also have a ton of other items available there that apply to all versions of AutoCAD: lisp routines, scripts and many CAD management PDF files to help out as well. Stop by and grab a few items.
Revit Structure 2010 Beta Tester
Did we really need a whole new interface for Revit?? And why did they have to include The Ribbon in that list? Some of the other major improvements that have been made were Wish List items, and some were not. Nothing new there, right? Even if they could give us everything we wanted all at once, they wouldn't. It's not possible in a one-year release schedule, so lets not go there. Anyway, that would kind of blow the whole Subscription part of their business model right out of the water. Would you pay a yearly for software that was all-inclusive? I think not. I know I wouldn't. Let's face it: Autodesk doesn't make too many bad business decisions. That is one stock I would love to have been in on from the eighties.
Interested in the new Revit Structure? You can find it on my Revit page. There are a number of items available to download that deal with Revit (all flavors) management, implementation, procedures, etc.
Pictures of the Year International 2007
First Place Winner
Second Place Winner |
Both photographs actually came from the same article in The Rocky Mountain News.
Read the article behind these pictures and check out the other pictures from the story here.
It's the best article I have read in a very long time.
